This past week, we’ve been lucky to house sit for Sam and Mareike while they visit Germany. Not only do we benefit from their terrific kitchen, hot shower and flat driveway, we get to hang out with their very cool black lab, Schmitty.
If you look up the name Schmitty in the Urban Dictionary you get the following:
A hypothetical person who is always a bit cooler than everyone, has more stuff than you, is better in every way.
Schmitty earns his name with every look and wag of his tail.
Schmitty Takes a Swim
On the 4th of July, Schmitty followed us on DC and Gina’s boat on Palisades Lake. He suffered through the doggy life vest that we fastened over him for his occasional dips in the cold water. He patiently watched the Fireworks over the lake with out worrying about the loud pops and bangs.
When we brought him back to Jackson, he rode beside our bikes on our trips around the neighborhood. He fetched his frisbee, entertaining us with his huge leaps, and hung with us while we worked through the afternoons. He cheered Tim on while Tim raced down Cache Game in the annual 13 mile race. He then gave Tim congratulatory licks to applaud his performance.

As you can see, we’ve stayed busy keeping up with Schmitty, but we love the challenge!
