Catching up

It’s been a long break from blogging, but we’re back on board! We realized if we don’t put our happenings somewhere it’s much tougher to remember where we’ve been. We hope you enjoy our memories of the beginning of 2011. We’ve got a lot of months to cover so there won’t be as much detail as normal, but we want to capture the best moments and photos of the year to date for posterity.

We’ll begin at the beginning…January 1. 2011 started off with a bang, swim, black eyed peas and great times with Ann, Scott, Marylou, Jeff, Jason and Kyle in Scottsdale. We’ve blogged this before but we’ll begin with this since it was such a great start to the year.  JANUARY 1 BLOG POST.

We spent much of January in Scottsdale and Phoenix with Ann and Scott.  Though Jackson Hole was getting the best snow year it had seen in decades, we didn’t miss it.  We were ready for sun this winter and that’s what we got.  Days working by the pool, evenings with the occasional margarita with 2 of our very favorite folks made the month fly by.  Before we knew it, February was here and we were driving north to Salt Lake City for the 429-a-palooza 6.0.

This year was one of the best (though we say that every year)!  The snow in Park City wasn’t spectacular, and we missed the Fraziers, but the jokes and laughter still flowed as freely as the Corona.

Thursday found us at the Canyons where the guys hucked themselves off any hill they could find.

In the Bubble

After a short but sweet ski day, we ordered some Chinese Bistro and relaxed at home waiting for the Weiser’s to arrive.  The next morning was a bright and early trip to Alta for our traditional Friday in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

CHHHEEESSSEE

Alta never fails to please.   That night we stayed home for a typically rambunctious night dancing and hottubbing at the Hauschild’s 429 style.

Saturday the snow began to fall again.  While Casey, Mel, Weiser, Chico and Jimmy went to Park City to see Jimmy’s nephew Nicholas race, Tim and I drove back to Alto to retrieve his skis that he left the day before. We didn’t see them anywhere.   After kicking through the snow and getting  a little concerned, we finally uncovered a pole, then a ski then another ski.  Whew.

We got  back to Park City just in time to get ready for dinner.  Trish finally had a night off from the hospital and was able to join us for a shin-dig at the Purple Sage.   After a delicious dinner and the best brussels sprouts and meatloaf I’d ever tasted, we went out on the town for pool and Pixies.

Pixie Dust

It was a tired crew that made it’s way up to Deer Valley on Sunday morning.  I decided to stay home and cook 20 lbs of pork carnitas for Superbowl.    We got the fixings out and ready for the big game between the Packers and Steelers.  Tim and Jimmie Shell were decked out in their black and gold but there was no stopping the Cheeseheads.

Though the game didn’t go as we hoped, it was yet another epic 429.
