It’s been a crazy 3 weeks since arriving back to town.

Week 1 was a rainy, muddy affair devoted to outfitting Tim’s apartment for short term rentals. After 9 months spent simplifying our lives, we’ve had to dramatically shift our values in order to buy buy buy. TV, rugs, couch, tables, lamps, bed, toothbrush holder, nightstands, towels, pots, pans, you name it, we’ve bought it. After scouring antique stores, furniture shops, and all the Pier Ones in the tri-state area. We’ve finally got it finished. Or at least finished enough.
Week 2 & 3, we caught up with work and friends. After 9 months away, we’ve got new babies to meet, many fresh stories to trade and lots of business reconnecting to do. We found ourselves squeezing meetings, lunches and furniture shopping trips into each available minute of the day.
This was all between bouncing from campsite to campsite in an attempt to stay dry, mudfree and warm during typical 45 degree early summer Jackson. Our twice-a-week shower lifestyle didn’t mesh with our new social schedule, so that added an additional layer of complexity.

Finally Tim said “Enough!” Last Sunday, he pronounced Rest Day. The entire day was to be spent relaxing. And so we did. Tim slept and read, while I biked. We then went to the Linn Ranch in Victor for an evening of free music.

Since then, we began housesitting, getting to spend time with Calley at Ann and Scott’s, and now watching Lizzie the Lizard at our friend Dave Baxa’s. We have showers when we need, easy Frank parking, and a new attitude. As always seems to happen, when the attitude shifts, other aspects follow. The sun is now out and the days are in the 70’s. Summer has finally found Jackson.

We’ve even got a new source of inspiration. BJ sent over this article from CNN. If you are wondering where we intend to be in the next 5 years: This is the plan. I particularly enjoyed the notion of Liming. “Liming means just kind of chilling out, kicking back, relaxing with friends, it usually involves good conversation, music and always food and drink.”
With the apartment furnished, initial storm of business meetings complete, and the sun burning bright in JH, it’s time to lime!
