Combine great friends, awesome weather, good food and a pretty boat and you get a little slice of Chesapeake heaven. After 2 weeks of travel or little wind, we finally got a chance to sail with Chico and Mel Viscovich up the Bay to Fleets Bay.
We’d heard about Fleets Bay from Ed, our knowledgeable Deltaville Marina harbor master. Beaches, great anchorage, plenty of room. It doesn’t get better than this.
We started off early Saturday morning and had a leisurely sail 13 miles up the Bay. The radio was blasting classic rock and we sailed a smooth beam reach tack north. Sailing at 3 knots, there was plenty of time for Chico to take a few Freedom Plunges
By 4pm the anchor was set and we headed to the beach in the dinghy for some time in the sand.
That night after crab balls, Tim’s famous burgers and Moscow mules, we fell asleep to the light rocking of Rocinante.
Morning brought light winds so we motored home in time for an anti-ice bucket challenge (see Facebook) and dinner. Lovely.
