Tuesday was all about the big show.  Tim and Chico were up until 11 the night before making food for the 15 people we expected at Frank’s tailgate party.  When the day started, we got up early and worked so that we could start playing as soon as possible.  The day picked up momentum when Weiser arrived at Chico and Mel’s fresh off the plane from NYC.   We then drove Frank, who was stuffed with food and beer, to Weiser’s to pick up Casey.  We got a chance to catch up with Weis’s mom and the Doc.  I’d heard so many great stories from the college years about Weiser’s folks that it was fun to finally meet them.

A day at the office

Then we were off to Fed Ex Field.  We got there early so that we’d get a good parking spot for the show.  I kept working until the party was too distracting and I had to join.

U2 Tailgate

We had tons of people roaming in and out of the festivities.  Chico and Mel, Keiran and Peggy joined us after work and Kevin and Georgia weren’t far behind.  We hung out with Casey’s cousin Paul and tons of work friends of everyone’s.  People were in a fabulous mood for the show.

We were having so much fun in the parking lot we decided not to see U2′s opening act, Muse.  We’d never heard of the band so we kept the tunes going in the parking lot until it was 8 and time to go in.

We settled into our seats on the Club Level, but Chico knew we could do better.  He has mastered the art of the concert weave and we made our way down to general admission to test his techniques.  One by one Mel, Chico, Tim, Peggy, Keiran and I each stole down on to the floor among the thousands of standing, screaming fans.  Though we got separated early, by some miracle we all found each other in the same pocket of people for the last half of the show.  We were within a stone’s throw of Bono for some amazing pictures.   We will NEVER doubt Chico’s amazing gift again!

The Band

After the last encore we were back at the van, celebrating and eating.  Mike, Mark Weiser’s brother, had volunteered to be DD and we rolled back home, exhausted but ecstatic.  Check out more of Tim’s Pictures here from the night.

What an awesome time!!! Thanks so much for the use of Frank, all the food and to ML for being my dance crowd buddy down on the field…looks like not only did I score a ticket to Park City Tuesday night but a new found love for Michael Franti…what are some of you fave tunes so I can download them from itunes? Have fun and keep safe on the road!

What an incredible show. We’ll dance again soon in PC! I think Tim sent you some Franti recommendations, but for myself Yell Fire is my favorite. He did a documentary called I Know I’m Not Alone based on a trip he took to Iraq in 2004. The music was inspired by his experiences. It’s a fabulous album!
