We woke up this morning to a true Southern breakfast banquet. Homemade Pumpkin Bread, Fried Apples, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage and Cantelope started the morning. After this big meal and 5 days of 5 hours of sleep, Tim and I immediately went back to bed for a nap. 2 hours later we finally began to feel like we were getting adjusted to the East Coast.
Well rested, we got up just in time for a big delicious lunch with Leroy, Sylvia and Christy at Blackstone’s newest remodeled fine dining establishment, The Herb Cottage. After plenty of sustenance and lots of sleep we were ready to take off on our last drive for the next few days up to Oakton, Northern Virginia.
We drove up Interstate 95 and despite the traffic, pulled into Chico and Mel’s driveway at about 7 pm. Their amazing daughters, Sophie and Anna, met us at the door. While we’d like to think they were excited to see us, we are realistic enough to know that Frank is the most popular draw. We showed the girls around the van and then got a chance to catch up with Mel and Chico.
It was great to see them again and to celebrate 39 years of Chico’s life. As usual somehow we’ve managed to stay up past 12 again with the fun things of the day. One of these days we’ve got to commit to an early bedtime in order to get some decent sleep!
