Somedays I am the luckiest computer consultant in town. Today was one of those days. Factory IT has a client who owns a large guest ranch in Grand Teton National Park. Over the years, we’ve set up and maintained a large network of wireless radios that spread wireless internet across the 5 mile property. Every once in a while something will happen and we get to go up to the ranch and spend the day in the sun troubleshooting in fields of wild flowers. It’s always a bit surreal to be on your computer outside in front of the Tetons.
This trip Zach came with me and we spent the entire day outside in the sunshine. The owner was telling us that a grizzly bear was scratching his back on an aspen last night about 15 feet away from where we’d set up for the day. And he wasn’t kidding. That’s Jackson for you. Things were pretty busy on the ranch during the day, so I wasn’t too concerned about the bear’s return, though I did stick pretty close to Zach. As they say, “you don’t need to be faster than the bear, you just need to be faster than the other guy”.
Tim spent his day getting ready for Vertical Media’s Quarterly Meetings. He balanced his day out with a 2 hour ride on the Race Course with Tom Hedges. They are considering tag teaming a 50 mile race next month at Targhee and are doing some endurance training to get ready. 50 miles is a long day on a mountain bike so they need to get some long rides under their belt.
Though he’s preparing for his next race, today he also got the results from the last. Even with a flat tire, he finished the Galena Grinder in 2:06. It took him 8 minutes to change the flat. The leader finished at 1:58. The math speaks for itself. Next race he’ll be riding with tubeless tires, so watch out!
Late birthday wishes to Wolste, welcome home!

Sounded like the perfect place to “work”….glad the bear stayed away!! Congratulations on the race Tim….we’re so proud of you!! LOL
