Somedays I am the luckiest computer consultant in town. Today was one of those days. Factory IT has a client who owns a large guest ranch in Grand Teton National Park. Over the years, we’ve set up and maintained a large network of wireless radios that spread wireless internet across the [...] “A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” This was the starting quote of today’s Zen Habits post. It was so fitting to Tim and my upcoming journeys, I had to reiterate it here. After a wonderful weekend in Sun Valley, I think Tim and I were both reluctant [...] It was an awesome sunrise that woke Tim up this morning. After a long day in the sun yesterday, we relaxed and took it easy. After a leisurely Cowboy Omelet, we got ready for our respective rides. Sarah and I were going to ride an 11 mile loop called Elk Meadows. [...] After a good night’s sleep, we woke up to another gorgeous day. Our creekside camp was sunny and cool, perfect race weather for the Galena Grinder. Tim ate a big breakfast early and we then rode the ½ mile to the Galena Lodge to check in for the race. On the way, we met [...] We woke up this morning after getting to our roadside camp site at 1 am. I had to be “at work” at 8 so we drove down the hill to Ketchum to a very good coffee shop called Java on 4th. Tim had taken the day off in order to relax and ride the [...] After a late night drive with a re-supply in Idaho Falls, we are safely in Sun Valley. Going to find a campsite and will post more tomorrow! Good Night! Tonight Tim and I are packing up for a trip to Sun Valley. Saturday is the Galena Grinder and we’re traveling tomorrow night in order to get there early. The race is 22.5 miles, 50% of which is single track. It starts and finishes at 7,000 feet and has a total elevation of 3,200 feet [...] This morning we woke up coughing. The flu is lessening its grip but still making itself known in the mornings. Tim fought back. By 7 am he had climbed into his bike gear and was out the door pedaling up Snow King. His training run today was the Race Course [...] Some weekends aren’t for rest and they aren’t for relaxing. They are for dancing and playing in the sun. This past weekend was that kind of weekend. But today we were faced with Recovery from our Weekend. The last three days were a blast at Targhee and we enjoyed every moment of music [...] Last night we ended the night with the Wallflowers and Jonny Lang. After two good concerts we went to bed to the sounds of music echoing across the campground. Nobody seemed ready for the party to end. This morning we were ready to do some work. Music started at noon, but I [...] After a late night, Tim and I slept in for the first time in weeks. Lately with doing web work, my workday starts at 5 am. Since my current office is sitting on the bed, when I get up, Tim is unfortunately soon to follow. This morning we relaxed until the [...] Today was the first of many musicfests in our future. After dropping Ann and Scott off at the airport, Tim and I took Frank over the hill and drove up to Grand Targhee. We had to get there early. Today begins the Targhee MusicFest, featuring 3 days of great tunes. 15 bands have [...] Tonight we shared Scott’s birthday celebration! Happy Birthday Scott! We began the day with a pre 7 am trip to the grocery store. There we debated on the perfect combination of 6 donuts for Scott. We also got a banner and awesome Happy Birthday Boy candles. Tim also found a birthday card which caused [...] Just as the cool weather broke in the mountains and things warmed up, it was time for Tim to come return to civilization. He had meetings this afternoon, and the satellite connectivity wasn’t quite good enough to guarantee successful communication. He packed up Frank and drove the 45 miles back to Jackson. On [...] It was a beautiful day in Jackson. Though it was a work day for us both, Tim and I each managed to enjoy some time outside. Tim woke up for day 2 in the Gros Ventres. His fishing thus far had only brought many small fish, but today he planned some exploring for the larger [...] Last night we had a HUGE lightening storm. Constant lightening made the sky flicker like a strobe light. Rain came down in a sheet of water. For our high desert town, it was unheard of. Back in the quiet isolation of the Gros Ventres, Tim also woke up from the thunderclaps. He didn’t get [...] I just read something so cool I had to share it. Matt Moniz is 11 years old from Boulder Colorado. His best friend Sam is 9 and has Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. Sam’s treatment costs $100,000 a year. To raise money for his friend’s therapy, Matt is climbing fourteen 14,000 foot plus Colorado [...] This morning we had to beat the early birds. Jackson yard sales are known for their first arrivals, frequently hours before the sale is scheduled to start, waiting to get the best sales; but today we had them beat. Scott was moving goods out of the garage by 7am. I was at the store [...] It was a full on push to get everything ready for the big sale tomorrow. My lunch hour was spent dashing around from street corner to street corner, stapling signs up. Then it was off to the bank for many dollars of small change. When I arrived home Tim, Ann and Scott were already pricing [...] |
