With 4 more days of traveling to go, Tim and I have gotten into the routine of the road. We wake up and coffee is brewing 5 minutes later. Breakfast follows and then we “shower” with Huggie wipes and are off to our internet location du jour in the Jeep. Once settled into the local coffee shop, we crank through the day’s work. Tim puts on his headset and holds meetings across the world while I skype my way through the day. Once the 5 pm whistle blows, we go and explore wherever we are. Tonight it was a bike ride up to the head of Zion Canyon. We’re back in training for summer riding so I followed along as Tim sprinted up the Canyon roads. Then back to camp, dinner, blogging and bed. It’s taken a month to get into our routine of productive work days followed by exploration, and now we are sadly counting down the moments to ending our journey. Though we are excited to be in Jackson again, we are going to miss our days in Frank.
For our last days, we’ll spend them biking and climbing. We considered overnighting in the Narrows, a classic slot canyon hike in Zion, but the ever constant threat of rain is dissuading us. One flash flood is plenty in a month. So instead I think we’ll go to St. George for some new bike rides that we’ve never explored. While we are there, we may finally use the climbing ropes that we’ve hauled 1000 miles. Then Sunday evening we’re driving back to Jackson for the month of June. We’ll take lots of getaways throughout the summer, but we’ll miss the groove of the road.
