After a 9 pm departure, we began the drive down to Park City. It just isn’t 429-a-palooza without a 3 am arrival time and this year is no different. Our late start was due to the Teton Cabins holiday celebration at the Knotty Pine in Victor. The party was month late but the night was just as festive as if it had been on December 24th. It was great to see everyone again and the Knotty Pine was delicious as always. Tim and I spent the evening drinking coffee and tea, getting ready for the snowy drive to come.
Yesterday we’d had blizzard conditions forecasted but this afternoon, we got a break in the weather. Thus we decided to drive the shorter way on back roads. It was a good idea in theory, but after missing a turn, getting about 40 miles off course, and driving over dozens of miles of black ice and snow, I am not sure we made the right decision. But it’s behind us now and we are safe, parked in Jimmy and Trish’s driveway in Frank getting ready for bed. It won’t be our last late night of the weekend, we’ll just have to get used to it!
Tonight to celebrate our arrival, I am putting up the last of our video series, celebrating the lead up to 429-apalooza. Chico found this gem on YouTube and it’s become my favorite. It’s Alta in the 70′s – tons of deep powder, no people and a great tune. From here on out we’ll be featuring current 429 video but enjoy the vintage footage. I have GOT to find some pants like this!

So gald you’re safe!! Sure hope you got to at least LISTEN to the 2 great games last night….WHAT A NIGHT!! Duke lost and Heels WON!! Doesn’t get much better!!!
