Well Tim and I usually don’t spend too much time on the blog complaining, if for no other reason than we don’t have much to complain about and it also can be boring for readers. But in our travels and last month, we’ve had some things building up that we just feel compelled to share…But we’ll get to that.
This morning, we woke up to a frosty blue and white morning in Salt Lake. We went to a delicious breakfast at the Cafe on the Park with Jimmie and Keri and then were back to the airport. There we were greeted with sheer pandemonium. The line to security extended into the parking garage. People were everywhere, all heading home after the holiday. When we finally got to our gate, we saw all the familiar faces from last night’s plane to Jackson. It turns out that after sitting on the runway for an hour getting de-iced, the redirected plane to Idaho Falls was turned around midflight because the landing gear wouldn’t retract. All the passengers were returned to SLC at midnight and rebooked on our 11 am flight. Tim and I counted ourselves very lucky to have bailed early.
After landing late in Jackson and waiting for an hour for our luggage which never showed up, we jumped in the car to rush home. We hoped to get to the JH Mountain Resort in time for their ski pass deal. For as long as anyone remembers, the Resort has given free lift tickets for the afternoon for anyone who flew into Jackson that day. Tim and I have had great ski days thanks to this generous offer and today promised to be no exception.
Ok here is where the complaining begins. We called the Resort just to be sure nothing had changed in the policy. And sure enough it had. Yes they still give the offer, but ONLY if you also get a 5 day ski rental too. NO THANK YOU, how many locals need that? So this is just one more affront to the Jackson locals by the JH Mountain Resort. Not only have the local’s Full Ski Pass prices sky rocketed to $1970 (compared to about $630 for 6 resorts at Vail), they also got rid of the popular Weekday and Express Passes and you can’t buy the 10 Day Pass during the season. I understand that the Resort needs to pay off the new Tram, but they won’t do it by disenfranchising long time locals (like Tim) who now won’t buy a single lift ticket.
Ok we’ll stop complaining now. We couldn’t be luckier about where we live and the amazing mountains we get to ski each day. And just to prove the complaining is over, we won’t even discuss the new Delta $15.00 checked bag policy (they actually say excitedly on their check in monitors “0 BAGS ARE FREE!”)…..

So when are you headed up to Montana? A full day adult pass at Bridger is $45. A full season pass is $645.
At least you have a cool looking hat on!
I’m on my way, WED!!
