Ok maybe some minds are greater than others, but Tim and I both got a huge kick out of seeing that Mr. Jimmy Buffett followed our exact route down the coast of North Carolina in his own Sportsmobile. After a summer of touring, he drove South by way of Highway 12 from Kitty Hawk to Ocracoke. His Sportsmobile, dubbed the Green Tomato, is a little different from Frank, and unmistakable. Jimmy actually picked up the Green Tomato 3 days before we visited the Sportsmobile showroom in Fresno last May. Our paths keep ALMOST crossing, we were sorry we missed him!
It is fun to read his adventures here. It’s amazing how similar our journeys were, right down to oysters at Awful Arthurs. He says there may be some songs inspired by his trip on 12, we’ll feel like we were right there with him!
After reminiscing about our last trip East, Tim and I spent the rest of the day planning for our current trip back to the coast. Tomorrow we climb on the 8 am flight from Jackson to go to Blackstone and Williamsburg for the week. It’s a Christmas tradition to see Grand Illumination, one which we have no intention of breaking. In light of our second short week in a row, we were busy getting ready for this trip. Clothes were washed from the desert, bags repacked, goodbyes said to Ann and Belle.
It’s our third night up past midnight in a row getting ready. Hopefully we will get some sleep on the plane!

I guess you must be of a certain “celebrity” status to get to climb on the models at kitty hawk.
