Tim and I are back on the road. We’re heading back to the warmth of the desert for one last gasp of Summer. We’ll spend the next 4 nights in Fruita, CO. I can’t wait to see a new place and to kick back in some 70 degree weather. Tonight we’ll drive 4 hours [...] Today marked the beginning of Vertical Media’s strategy meetings. Tim has been preparing for them for weeks, it’s good to have them underway, but it was a brutally early start for us all after a very late, very fun night. The meetings were a success and a tired Dan and Tim came home at 6. [...] Tuesday night and we are scheduled to serve sushi and margaritas to twelve friends. How did this happen?….it’s the middle of the week? Oh wait, I invited everyone AND planned the menu. Well despite the labor intensive appetizer list, thank you to everyone who helped make this mid week party a big success! It started [...] Well, it’s been two weeks since our last trip…time to get back on the road. This time we’re heading to Fruita, Colorado. Fruita is an up and coming mountain biking mecca of the West. Miles and miles of newly constructed trails traverse the Rocky Mountain foothills. We’ve only heard [...] This morning was definitely a DOG morning. That means that first thing, we went to Down On Glen and ordered two of the best burritos in town, probably the state, perhaps even the west. After a late night, nothing is better than 2 spicy veggie burritos with coffee. Delicious. Immediately Tim and I recognized that [...] Today was a chilly prewinter day in Jackson. Tim and I holed up for the day getting work done in preparation for an evening spent carving. That’s right, it’s pumpkin time and we’re ready! Tonight is BJ and Lisa’s Bon Voyage Party with a pumpkin carving theme. They are leaving the first week in November [...] This morning, we woke up and turned on the TV. The news was already bad. International markets had plunged overnight, and US market futures were down 400 pts. Analysts expected the worst from the Wallstreet. We actually heard one analyst who sounded annoyed because prices began to rise…”they are rallying [...] It was another gorgeous day in Jackson. The morning started clear and cold, with the temperatures at a brisk 27 degrees. It warmed up throughout the day and may have even hit 50 at one point, but the sun was out and it made the day feel even warmer. Tim had a day full of [...] It was work work work today without much break. For me it was a day in the office. For Tim, it was a day in front of his enormous, bright green screen. He FINALLY ordered a new computer a few days ago, but it will be several weeks before it arrives. So for the time [...] After a highly successful day at the Factory (Zach cracked an ongoing network/voip/data/cisco nightmare that had been going on for months for our biggest client), we decided to celebrate with a beer at the Brew Pub. Ed, Zach and I got a chance to kick back and relax after some busy weeks. We (almost) [...] After a work day for us both, Tim and I settled into projects. I am busy scanning pictures as demonstrations for my first class for my new business. I am going to be offering tutorials to teach folks how to have more fun with their computer. I hope to give people who are [...] This morning we woke up to the distant roar of Old Faithful erupting. It was 7:30 am and the light was still dim, not good for pictures, so we rolled over for a little more snoozing. Once the sun had risen over Geyser Basin’s hillside, we got up after a luxurious 9 hours of [...] Tonight we are spending one last night in Yellowstone. After using the day for cleanup and winterizing jobs around the house, Tim and I decided at about 3 pm to pack up Frank for a final Yellowstone trip for 2008. What shocked us as we relaxed by Old Faithful is the realization [...] As the temperatures once again rose into the 60’s, Tim and I continue to reflect on winter. We’ve got beautiful weather ahead of us this weekend, but once we’d caught the snow bug, it stuck. This evening after work, we drove up to Teton Village to see the progress on the new Tram. Things [...] Tim and I woke to more snow this morning. It melted by noon, but there is a definite trend in the weather. That’s right, winter is on its way… sheesh, you’d think we lived in the Western mountains or something. While I am dreading the inevitable, Tim is better about embracing it. He’s already starting [...] Tonight marks the final stretch. After an entire year of political headlines, the election is nearly here. Tim, Ann and I watched the final debate together, waiting for a dramatic attack from McCain. We were joined in spirit by Jimmie Shell. As 7:00 neared, I got the first text message, “May the best President win” from Jimmie [...] Our night ended at 4 am last night and the day began a short 3 hours later at 7. Tim and I had both slept some on the drive, but it didn’t make getting up any easier. I arrived at the office at 8 and immediately began drinking the first of many cups of [...] Our final morning in the Canyon was crystal clear and cold. Despite the threat of rain in the forecast, the trip has been beautiful. We packed up camp in a hurry in order to get on the road. We had 30 miles of pedaling before climbing up the long Shafer Trail and then driving 8 [...] Due to lack of availability, our campsites in Canyonlands weren’t spaced very evenly. Day 1 was 24 miles in to Taylor Canyon. Day 2 was 6 miles further to Hard Scrabble. Day 3, today, was the big push at 40 miles. Tomorrow we have 30 more miles before finishing at the Canyon Rim again. To [...] |
