The day began quite peacefully. We awoke in the quaint village of St. Michaels, MD. Feeling the need to catch up with current events, Tim picked up a Washington Post with his coffee.
As we crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the endless fields of corn, soybeans and serene estuaries of Maryland’s Eastern shore gave way to the multi-lane highways and hallmarks of suburbia we couldn’t help but feel the pace of our day quicken.
Frank earned his urban stripes as he carved up the beltway and delivered us safely to Chateau Viscovich in time for lunch. Our arrival in Oakton, VA signaled the start of 429-fest 1.0. For those who follow the blog, this is same crowd that convenes in Utah each winter for 429-a-palooza.

Thank you Weiser for your intro! Mark kindly filled in on blog writing before getting called in for the more important job of putting his kids, Brian and Brooke, to bed. We are going to be teasing him for the poetic estuary comment for months to come.
429-a-palooza is alive and well. Mel and Dave Viscovich, Casey and Mark Weiser, Kevin and Georgia Frazier, Kieran and Peg McCarthy and all children (Sophie, Anna and Brooke are pictured above in Frank), gathered for the pre Jimmy Buffett Party. 13 of us got together to plan Frank’s transformation into a giant shark, to purchase many hula skirts and to play multiple games of Corn Hole. I’ve never seen Corn Hole before but this game with bean bags and wooden ramps kept us all well entertained. We wrapped up the night laughing about the blog, kids, tomorrow night, and especially the Kid Rock concert that Weiser and Casey had seen last night. 429 is alive and well in Northern Virginia!
