The day began quite peacefully. We awoke in the quaint village of St. Michaels, MD. Feeling the need to catch up with current events, Tim picked up a Washington Post with his coffee. As we crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the endless fields of corn, soybeans and serene estuaries of Maryland’s Eastern shore [...] Today we celebrated our last day on the beach. One thing this trip has taught us both is that Tim and I are beach bums at heart and we’ll be back soon. But for today we wanted to absorb as much beach time as we could. We woke up early and found prime [...] We woke early this morning! It was another perfect sunrise and we made coffee and tea and sat on the overlook watching the sea at sunrise. As we sat, we were treated to the dolphins riding the waves. It always seems special when the dolphins come around and to watch them surf as [...] For those who have never been to Assateague Island, it is a beautiful and completely unique place. The barrier island is 37 miles long and lies in both Maryland and Virginia. We are camped in the National Seashore in Maryland. The island is undeveloped and doesn’t have a road which covers the entire [...] Sure enough, this morning we were up and parked at the Ford dealership in South Hill at a bleary eyed 7:30 am. Thankfully Sylvia sent us out with a to-go breakfast feast of Sylvia McMuffins, cantaloupe, and yogurt parfait to keep us moving. Tim got out at the shop, went inside and told [...] |
