“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Monday, Monday

Sweetness Today was a Monday, through and through. We’re swamped at work and I kept plugging away at a 11 hour day until 7 pm. Then it was off for grocery shopping and studying. While I was walking the aisles of Albertsons, Tim broke his chain tool, while helping a guy fix his chain on the Cache/Game bike ride. After his act of “good Samaritanism”, he promptly blew a tire which also needed fixing. A 2 1/2 hour ride took over 4 hours.

I started dinner at 9, and by 9:20, as it started to get really dark outside, he came in exhausted – just in time for the noodles to go into the pot for the spaghetti.

We took the rest of the short evening to relax, catchup, unwind, and talk about our next trip East. We’ve been doing some researched and hatched a plan for our first week of exploration. After 3 long days of driving cross country, we’ll settle in at Portsmouth Island, a nearly deserted southern barrier island off the coast of North Carolina. We were inspired by the an article in Outside Magazine and want to explore one of the last places you can still drive and camp on the beach. We’ll ferry over in Frank on the 4th of August and set up camp for 2 nights, fishing for drum each night for dinner. Then it’s off on a light house tour of the Outer Banks before meeting up with Jimmie and Keri for some crab and civilization on the 8th in Nags Head. It won’t be nearly long enough, but we’ll get a taste of having an island all to ourselves!
