Tim and I woke up toasty warm in Frank as the sun rose over the Snow King ball field. We had danced long into the night and we were beat, but as the sun started to bake Frank we got moving. Tim’s first project was to organize and post his photos from the wedding. [...] Today was a wedding day… and a perfect summer day! It started with a hike up Snow King, ironically that’s where it would finish! Mary Lynn and Dana spent the morning with a straight-up hike, right up the middle of the King. Meanwhile, I did some catchup work with some [...] This morning all our housemates left. Ann and Scott flew out on the 8:25 flight to return to Virginia and Larry and Susan drove on to Idaho Falls to visit friends before continuing their drive cross country. It’s quiet around the house. Callie and Belle are going to be bored with [...] Today’s finest moments were measured in minutes not hours. For lunch today, I met my friend and computer consulting mentor, Josh Miller. He has spent the majority of his past 2 years in Thailand and is just back for the summer. In the fall of 2006, I caught Josh just 1 week [...] We knuckled down today to get some work done. Tim’s webcam project continues on. Vertical Media is creating a web site for their 300 new cameras. VM webcams are now scattered all across the Rocky’s. People love video and Vertical Media is giving them an unlimited supply with a constant [...] Conservation was the name of the game this Tuesday. Tim rode his bike to town for errands to conserve gas, we recycled from the weekend to conserve waste, and I chose to conserve time and bought the most delicious finger lickin’ good fried chicken for dinner tonight. Who says economy of [...] It was a full Monday. We woke up early to catch the sunrise over the Tetons. The mountains were gorgeous as always but the true stars of the day were the thousand balsamroot flowers that covered the hills. With all our spring rains, the wild flowers this year have been brilliant….and [...] This morning we all slept in after a late solstice night. It’s hard to go to sleep early when it’s still light out at 10 pm! We ate a hardy breakfast of cowboy omelet and then Jimmie and Keri packed up to drive back to Salt Lake. Tim and I stayed for a few [...] Today I am looking at the world through the eyes of Jimmie Shell. We woke up and Jimmie was pacing our little camp, too hot to stay in his tent. In the bright sun, it was 85 but felt far warmer. We decided to relocate to the Big Holes, the meandering, gentle [...] For the longest day of the year, it was a beautiful one! Tim handled a web camera emergency to begin his day. VM has recently added 300 webcams to their management system which originally handled 10. With that kind of increase there will occasionally be some glitches. But [...] With Tim and my travel schedules, we are finding that we are squeezing in tons of social activities while we are here in Jackson. It’s been a blast but tiring since we have not had much down time. With another big trip planned for August and weekends filling up fast, as well [...] We’re breaking out the fans as the weather gets hotter. It’s time to make some more plans for weekend retreats. Since I am working with Factory IT, my weeks through June and July are anchored to town, but each weekend we are planning outdoor adventures. As we plan, we are also practical. [...] What an AMAZING day today! Finally things are gorgeous in Jackson. Once it hits, there’s nothing quite as marvelous as a summer in the Hole. The temperature is 80, the skies are crystal clear….even though snow was falling this time last week, we have forgotten all about that! Now we are gearing [...] We’ve minimized the food commentary over the past months, but tonight we’re right back at it. All thanks to Dan Staebler. But before we get to the extraordinary climax to the day, we’ll start from the beginning. Our day began with a nose-to-the-grindstone morning. Tim dug into database building and [...] Today it was all about getting things done. We woke up early and took off after quick cups of coffee and tea with Ian, Bob, Leanna and the kids. We were heading to Shadow Mountain to pick up a key piece of our satellite setup equipment that had been accidentally left last [...] In this time of global economic uproar, weather disasters, international unrest, we saw peace in the most unexpected quarter. Belle, our enormous white Great Pyrenees surrogate puppy, is the sweetest of dogs. All things on 2 legs are instantly welcomed in her world….but four legged creatures better watch out. She loves [...] Yesterday was a powder day, but today we finally reached 68. Just one day in Jackson makes all the difference. Our local weatherman reported that so far this year Jackson had seen 70 degrees only four times this year compared with last year’s total of 35 days by this time. But it [...] Today was just another snowy day in June. We’re actually starting to get used to it. We’ve heard rumors that it’s supposed to be sunny this weekend. But we’ll believe it when we see it. On his way into town, Tim captured this photo of a snow plow heading up to Teton Pass [...] This morning we woke up to ….yes, I hate to say it….an inch of snow! That’s no new paint job on the deck, it’s an inch of fresh Jackson powder. Carli, Vertical Media’s “Glue that Holds the Place Together” came up with the perfect phrase – it is Junuary in Jackson.
