Tonight we focus on the aftermath of our trip. We had a great time and can’t wait to head out again, but this month is going to be a good one of regrouping, reorganizing and working out the glitches. While we succeeded in working remotely Canyon-side, there are some things to improve. Cell service is a big one and we’ll buy a booster to improve that. Communication is another and that too can be refined with time.
We’re also figuring out how to travel affordably. We made some costly mistakes this trip. Yakima racks in the wind are the first issue. On our way to Vegas, we lost Tim’s bike wheel driving an extremely windy stretch. Coming home, my bike nearly blew off as well. Thankfully after the wheel incident, we had chained the bike up, so when the rack loosened, the bike stayed put…a critical lesson learned.
Though unavoidable, our timing wasn’t great either. On the same day that truckers start to strike due to the high cost of diesel, we drive 700 miles to get home. Our cheapest fillup was $3.85 a gallon, but most places it was over $4.00. Grand total for the whole day – $250. Next time we’ll just stay put in the desert.
And last but certainly not least, Tim’s chipped front tooth was the biggest casualty. I am not sure what to say we learned from this incident. Please don’t eat the rocks on your bike ride? Keep your tuckus on your seat? Leroy and Sylvia, I promise our adventures next month will be a little less disfiguring!

Thanks for the pic of the tooth. looks fixable, could need a root canal down the road, depending on nerve damage, just keep flossing. Floss is cheap!! Glad you’re home safely. Looking forward to our trip out next month. Love ya!!
