No Scurvy in Skyline

Mountain of Fruit Today’s photo is a celebration of color…and that’s right Weiser – food! We went grocery shopping tonight and loaded up on fruit and veggies. In addition to staving off scurvy, it makes a darn pretty photo subject. This winter has been a season of whites and grays. With the exception of a few sunny days, it has been a monochromatic couple of months.

Over the last week, Tim has been taking an online class about Photoshop. Photoshop is an image editing software which among other things allows the photographer to play with light and shadow in a picture. Using Photoshop as the tool, the class focuses on work flow, teaching you how to recreate the dark room experience on your computer. The results are astounding. By applying what he’s learned, Tim has taken pictures and made them more vivid and crisp, highlighting the very best points. In this winter of grays, it’s been a welcome splash of color!

Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone NP Our second picture of the day is a picture Tim took this summer on a brillant day in Yellowstone. We headed out at dawn and climbed a butte 500 feet above Grand Prismatic Spring. As the morning warmed up, the mists which usually cloud the air around the geyser blew away and Tim was able to capture this unusually clear picture. The original photo was great, but after Tim applied what he’s learned, the result is spectacular!

Mmmm…Food. What was for dinner? Lunch? Snack?

With the info on this blog I’ve been charting both of your caloric intakes. I’ll crunch these numbers with Frank’s emissions totals after 80,000 miles on the road this year, then do a statistical regression analyisis which will yield the amount of Flex Car miles you will need to log next year to offset Frazier’s astronomical carbon footprint. It takes a lot of fossil fuel to keep the Kev-Mahal warm.

Tim if you are truely becoming a photoshop geek you can subscribe to one of the podcasts on the subject generated from the world famous RHED Pixel podcasting studios on weekly basis. Don’t ask me for tips though as I’m the only person in the office who is clueless when it comes to PS3.

Perhaps I can score you some free passes to the next Photoshop World and you can add that to Frank’s Itinerary.

Remember digital manipulation is fraud. What are we to believe when we see the picture of the day? Is it real or is it Memorex? Now I know what happened to my face on the BAG t-shirt, PRICELESS!!! MW your killing me…..

Just bring your checkbook on Thursday… at this rate you are going to have to hit up your HELOC to pay me off for 3.0.

  • [...] Before heading out, Tim snapped this picture of the Tetons in the last light of the day….and Frasier, Tim claims that any “photoshopping” performed is no different then your view of the world behind those Maui Jim’s! [...]
